Zenful Living: Asian Style Lighting

Asian style lighting encompasses design elements from the Far East, Zen inspired lighting incorporate tasteful Asian influence with perfect Feng Shui.  Iconic figures like from Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha, and Chinese Foo Dogs establish peace and serenity within interior design.   Foo dogs, traditionally know in Chinese simply as Shi, are guardian lions that have stood in front of imperial palaces, temples, and homes since the Han Dynasty.  These statues symbolically stand at each side of an entrance and are believed to be protectors.  Materials from the Earth like Bamboo, which are some of the fastest-growing plants in the world, have a large cultural significance in Asia and are timeless and bold designs.  Bamboo has a higher capacity of strength than wood, and has a maximum stress, or tensile strength, that rivals steel. Asian interior design style makes a bold statement.  Asian influence in lighting design can be seen in a number of products on the market such as the Zen Collection by Fredrick Ramond.  This collection, for example, brings a bit of Asian flair through the use of simple bamboo material. Other favorite Zen Inspired lighting collections include Corbett Lighting’s  Shoji Collection.  Asian style lighting brings balance and serenity to a space.
