New Summer Styles from the Dallas Lighting Market

LBL Mademoiselle Sconce

LBL Mademoiselle

The Dallas International Lighting Market is where all the new products and styles make their debut at the world’s most widespread wholesale marketplace, the Dallas Market Center.  The 2013 summer market just recently came to a close – here are some of hottest new trends in lighting we noticed take hold this summer at the Market.

Geometric forms made their appearance at the winter Market and now those geometric patterns are showing up in linked and chained metal.  These metal chains almost mimic conventional crystal strands; some even incorporate crystal into the links.  Many are made with small silver beads while others contain links and other shapes.  Something that displays this style of lighting properly is the Mademoiselle pendant and sconce by LBL Lighting, they exhibit a fusion of metal and crystal.

LED continues to influence the industry with modern and sleek forms this summer at the Dallas Market – the LEDs omit the space needed for light bulbs, allowing the fixtures to become remarkable modern sculptures.  Artcraft has a new collection, Santa Cruz, which is designed with very fresh and prevailing silhouettes; Sonneman featured the new collection Starflex and Axes, which illustrates this new phenomenon with LEDs and sculptural forms.  Hinkley Lighting harnesses this contemporary perspective and creates pieces that are contemporary and chic with attitude; some of our favorites are the Nova and Bijou collections.

Troy Flatiron Pendant

Hudson Valley is incorporating LED technology into their popular 1930s retro style fixtures.  Retro and restoration styles continued their popularity this summer at the Market and some new rustic restoration options incorporate casual fabrics and worn wood like the Live, Love, Laugh line from Murray Feiss and Fredrick Raymond’s Middlefield collection.  The most popular look this season is the sphere – anything round is in style from drum shades to multiple ball pendants to the all encompassing large sphere.  There are very rustic versions like the Flatiron from Troy Lighting and elegant pieces like Solstice by Crystorama.  Whatever the style turns to this summer it is truly apparent that all the manufacturers within the industry have a lot of novel designs and lighting options for people to appreciate and treasure for throughout the year.
