Penthouse Tour: 5 Jaw-Dropping Mansions in the Sky

Creating masterpiece mansions in the sky require immaculate attention to detail, a ‘less is more’ design approach and a ‘more is more’ is more approach in regards to the amenities.  The penthouse units below challenge the norm of square footage, custom designs, stunning materials and, not to mention, one view better than the next.  Take your pick.

1. 56 Leonard Penthouse – Tribeca, New York, NY

Access this penthouse with a private elevator and direct entry opening into 14-foot ceilings and a great room sculpted by a white enameled, steel wood-burning fireplace.  Each of the ten units, referred to as ‘Glass Houses in the Sky,’ are limited edition residences by Herzog & de Meuron.  Continuous floor-to-ceiling windows span miles of uninterrupted panoramic views, which encompass a breathtaking array of uptown, downtown, river to river, bridge to Battery, cross-town, and beyond.  The kitchen’s in the penthouse are designed for entertaining, featuring custom-designs from Herzog & de Meuron.

2. Edition Residences – Miami Beach, FL

This penthouse feels like a free standing mansion. Each PH unit at the Residences at W Hollywood feature 4 bed and 4.5 bath, but that is not what is impressive.  This triplex PH boasts 20-foot floor to ceiling windows with direct views of the ocean, Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline.  The center piece of it all is the million dollar staircase constructed from bleached teak wood.  The property also offers a private outdoor summer kitchen and a 36-foot pool within the private rooftop.

3. Delaware – Residences at The Four Seasons Duplex, Chicago, IL

Standing at the top of the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, IL, this 7,000 sq. ft. penthouse duplex is large in both size and luxury.  Designer Juan Pablo Molyneux and architect Marvin Herman created a Venetian palace in one of Chicago’s premier locations.  Amenities include limestone floors, library, 2nd floor gallery, a 2,000 bottle wine cellar, tasting room, home theater, en suite rooms and all that the Four Seasons Hotel has to offer.

4. Lumina Duplex Penthouse, San Francisco, CA

The most expensive penthouse in San Francisco is listed for $49 million.  Sitting just above the San Francisco Bay – with roughly 14,000 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths, 2 half baths – is the Lumina Duplex, equivalent to 8 regular units within the development. Highlights of Olde World architecture encompass the vertical proportions of over 13,000 sq. ft on the interior.  This penthouse captures iconic views of San Francisco Bay Bridge, Ferry Building and the Downtown Financial Center.
