A Vast Array of Home Office Lighting

When designing a home office lighting plan, you will want to create a comfortable environment that is free of harsh contrasts and distracting glare. You will need task lighting for reading, writing, and computer work, and general lighting main office area. You may also want to include accent lighting to highlight artwork or awards showcased throughout the office.

Large ceiling fixtures will provide a lot of well-diffused general office lighting.  Overhead ceiling fixtures provide ideal office lighting and eliminate shadows created by hovering over a desk. Place the fixtures over head and to the right and left of the desk so the light comes over the shoulder, also help reduce the impact of shadows.  Note that office lighting placed in front of a desk will cause reflections.  Avoid crystal designs in office lighting to also reduce the affect of reflections.

Credenzas can be illuminated with slim under cabinet led tape lights.  LED tape lights are a great way to incorporate additional lighting.  Not only do they add to the functionality of office lighting, but they enhance the design and functionally  of office lighting. Mounting LED tape lights as close to the front of the cabinet as possible will avoid glare reflecting off the work surface.  Lastly, LED tape lights are the best option of under cabinet lighting and cove lighting because they evenly distribute the light better than other alternatives, avoiding lighting hotpots.

Photos, awards, artwork or a plant can be highlighted with picture lights or adjustable track lighting heads.  Swing arm fixtures are great in offices, because the lighting beams can be adjusted to focus on different parts of the room, or during different times of the day when sun light brightness changes.

An adjustable table lamp will provide additional light to the desk and keyboard areas. Position the lamp so it is not reflected in the computer screen.
